Women's IPL dates announced, check the full details here


 

BCCI is set to launch the first ever season of women IPL on March 4 this year. After a long waiting IPL chairman Arun Dhumal today has confirmed that this year's Women IPL will be played between march 4-26. The final will be played on March 26th.

Teams and franchises
Bidding for different teams had already done on January 25th and BCCI has generated a total revenue of Rs. 4669.99 cr by selling the different teams to different franchises. Owner of the three IPL team Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Delhi Capital acquired three teams, the rest of the two teams were acquired by Adani group and Capri Global for Ahmedabad and Lucknow respectively.

Date, Venue, format, time and auction
Top cricketing body of India today has also revealed the women's player auction which will take place on 13th February in Mumbai. BCC I CEO Hemang Amin also confirmed that 1500 players have registered for the auction and the final list is yet to come. A maximum of 90 players can be bought in the auction, with each squad having 15-18 players. 22 games will be played in this year's WPL and to reduce the logistical challenges for players and coaches traveling from there, BCCI has decided to host the whole tournament in Mumbai only. Two stadium will be utilized for the tournament namely Brabourne Stadium and DY Patil Stadium. The dates for WPL are set in accordance to the Women T20 world Cup which is scheduled to be concluded on 26th Feb.

Players to watch for in auction-
BCCI secretary Jay Shah already said that this Women IPL will be a historic event not just for its valuation but also for its unique team auction which has already defeated bidding of men's 2008 men's IPL record in terms of revenue.
